2025 Exhibit: Railroads Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

Our brand new exhibit, Railroads: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow, will dive into the innovations of the past, how they’ve shaped today’s railroads, and the future of railroading in America!

Railroads continue to play a vital role in transportation across the United States. Did you know that in America there are about 623 freight railroads covering 136,667 miles of track? They transport over 1.5 million tons of goods every day! Last year, more than 22 million passengers traveled by train—and that number is expected to rise!

We’re also excited to host Union Pacific’s “Move Over Sir!” exhibit, highlighting women’s incredible contributions to the railroad industry from the 1830s to today. This exhibit honors an often-overlooked chapter in railroad history.
