
Girl Scout Badges
The National Railroad Museum Education Department is pleased to offer several badge programs for Girl Scouts. These programs are based on the requirements for various badges.
Daisies
Automotive Badge(s): $25 per scout, includes supplies and all three badges.
This Automotive Badge will allow Girl Scouts to design, engineer, and manufacture their own locomotive or train car. You get to learn the best way to transport goods and/or passengers and how trains have evolved over time to meet public demands.

Brownies
Mechanical Engineers, Race Car: $25 per scout, includes supplies and badge.
Not only will you design a track route, but you will also build your high-speed locomotive and put it to the test! How strong and aerodynamic can your locomotive be?
Automotive Badge(s): $25 per scout includes supplies and all three badges.
This Automotive Badge will allow Girl Scouts to design, engineer, and manufacture their own train locomotive or train car. We get to learn the best way to transport goods and/or passengers and how trains have evolved over time to meet public demands.
Brownie Journey Quest (It’s Your World – Change It!): $25 per scout, includes all badges.
Brownies will take a trip and explore the trains throughout our museum to discover more about their values and themselves through stories and reflection. Girl Scouts will have to work together and discover their strengths along the journey. At the end of our program, we analyze the values we feel strongly enough about and then take action to make a change.
Juniors
Playing the Past: $25 per scout, includes all supplies and badge.
Explore the past through the history of trains! Put yourself in different shoes and learn all about the post. We learn about the roles women played in American history and their contributions to train history (Can be made into an Overnight Experience as well through our ‘Night in the Hobo Jungle’ program).

This Automotive Badge will allow your Girl Scout to design, engineer, and manufacture their own train locomotive or train car. We get to learn the best way to transport goods and/or passengers and how trains have evolved to meet public demands.
Cadettes
Night Owl: $45 per scout, includes all program supplies, food, and badge (Minimum of 16 participants)
Is anything better than a sleepover? What about at a museum? The National Railroad Museum’s ‘A Night in the Hobo Jungle’ is a fun, adventurous sleepover experience. Learn what life was like as a hobo during the Great Depression when you attend ‘A Night in the Hobo Jungle.’ Participants will learn about hobo language, cook hobo stew, construct Hoover Shacks, and listen to railroad stories in our hobo jungle. This program is only offered January-March.
Seniors
Eco Explorer: $25 per scout, supplies and badge included.
Become an eco-explorer as you get hands-on experience with environmental issues and help make positive changes to the environment. At the National Railroad Museum, we learn how trains have affected the environment and ecosystems in the past and how we can protect these ecosystems today.
