All aboard for a springtime story adventure! Tales on the Rails is a brand-new event at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, where books, trains, and imagination come together for a day designed especially for kids and their families.

Young explorers will “travel” across the Museum grounds, stopping along the way to enjoy live story readings surrounded by historic trains. At each location, children will hear a new story and collect a stamp in their very own Tales on the Rails passport, turning the experience into an interactive reading journey.

Throughout the day, families can explore the Museum grounds and discover a variety of activities. Along the route, young travelers will hear stories, collect passport stamps, and enjoy hands-on experiences designed to spark curiosity and imagination.

Grab your tickets early and get ready to read, ride, and explore!

A ticket to Tales on the Rails includes a full day of storytime, exploration, and family-friendly activities throughout the Museum grounds. Young travelers will follow the adventure route, visiting different locations across the Museum to hear live readings and collect stamps in their Tales on the Rails passport along the way.

To begin the adventure, families will explore the Museum grounds and discover storytime stops and activities throughout the day. Activities include:

  • Storytime stops across the Museum grounds, each featuring a different book and setting
  • A Tales on the Rails passport adventure, where kids collect stamps at each stop along the journey
  • Creative crafts and hands-on activities inspired by springtime, stories and trains
  • Live children’s entertainment, including on-stage presentations and balloon creations by Mischief & Magic
  • Games and interactive fun for young explorers
  • A ride on a historic vintage train
  • Food and beverages available for purchase from Dos Chiles to keep explorers fueled for the journey

As kids make their way through each story station, they’ll collect passport stamps along the route. Those who complete their journey will receive a special reward, making the experience both interactive and memorable.
