These honors celebrate not only the museum’s achievements but also the passion and generosity of the volunteers, members, donors, and supporters who continue to move our mission forward.

The Mayor’s Beautification Awards are an annual celebration recognizing individuals, businesses, and organizations that enhance the beauty of the City of Green Bay.

The National Railroad Museum was honored to be selected as a finalist in the Best Museum and Best Family Amusement categories in the 2024 Best of the Bay.

2023 Certificate of Appreciation

In 2023, the museum was happy to support the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion with an event space for their mobilization ceremony and received this certificate in appreciation for our support.

2022Heritage Rail Alliance Significant Achievement Award

In 2022, the museum received the Significant Achievement Award for the restoration of the Chicago & North Western Joseph Lister Hospital Car from the Heritage Rail Alliance. This award is given to recognize the best of railway preservation.

2019 Heritage Rail Alliance Significant Achievement Award

In 2019, the museum received the Significant Achievement Award for the restoration of the Atlantic Coast Line Dothan Dining Car from the Heritage Rail Alliance. This award is given to recognize the best of railway preservation.

In 2017, the museum received the Community Partner of the Year award from the Bay-Lakes Council: Voyageur District of Scouting America.

The Museum received a Certificate of Commendation from Governor Scott Walker recognizing its 60th Anniversary on July 19, 2016.

Put on by the National Model Railroad Association, the National Railroad Museum received a First Place-Display award at the 2015 Trainfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Trainfest is the largest operating model railroad show in America.

Awarded by the Brown County Historical Society, the National Railroad Museum received the 2014 Historic Preservation Award for the preservation of our Dwight D. Eisenhower A4 locomotive.

The Museum received a Certificate of Recognition from the State of Wisconsin and Governor Scott Walker in 2012 due to our partnership in Operation Greatest Generation, a tribute to Wisconsin’s World War II veterans.
