Girl Scout Badge Programs
Girl Scout troops from across Wisconsin visit the National Railroad Museum to earn official badges through hands-on STEM, engineering, and history programs. Our Education Department offers badge workshops for every level – Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, and Seniors – each built around real Girl Scout badge requirements. Troop leaders can book a single badge workshop or combine a program with a Museum tour or overnight experience. Contact our Education Department to check availability and reserve a date for your troop.
Daisy Badge Programs
Daisy Automotive Badge(s): $25 per scout, includes supplies and all three badges.
Daisy Girl Scouts design, engineer, and build their own locomotive or train car in this hands-on Automotive Badge workshop. Along the way, scouts learn how railroads move goods and passengers and how trains have changed over time to meet public needs. This program fulfills the requirements for all three Daisy Automotive badges in one visit.
Brownie Badge Programs
Mechanical Engineer Badge: Race Car: $25 per scout, includes supplies and badge.
Brownie Girl Scouts design a track route, then build and test their own high-speed locomotive. Scouts experiment with speed, strength, and aerodynamics to see how their design holds up – a hands-on introduction to engineering and design-forward thinking.
Automotive Badge(s): $25 per scout includes supplies and all three badges.
In this badge workshop, Brownies will design, engineer, and build their own train locomotive or train car. Scouts learn how railroads move goods and passengers and how trains have evolved to meet public demand, earning all three Brownie Automotive badges in one session.
Junior Badge Programs
Playing the Past Badge: $25 per scout, includes all supplies and badge.
Junior Girl Scouts step back in time to explore the history of American railroads. This program highlights the roles women played in railroad history and their lasting contributions to the industry. Playing the Past can also be extended into an overnight experience through our A Night in the Hobo Jungle program.
Automotive Badge(s): $25 per scout, includes supplies and all three badges.
Junior scouts will design, engineer, and build their own train locomotive or train car in this workshop, learning how railroads have transported goods and passengers – and how that’s changed over time – while earning all three Junior Automotive badges in one visit.
Cadette Badge Programs
Night Owl Badge: $55 per scout, includes all program supplies, food, and badge (minimum of 16 participants)
Cadette Girl Scouts experience A Night in the Hobo Jungle, an overnight adventure exploring what life was like for hobos during the Great Depression. Scouts learn hobo language and traditions, cook hobo stew over a fire, build Hoover shacks, and hear railroad stories in our recreated hobo jungle. This program runs January through March only – book early, as dates fill quickly.
Senior Badge Programs
Eco Explorer Badge: $25 per scout, supplies and badge included.
Senior Girl Scouts get hands-on with environmental science, exploring how railroads have affected ecosystems throughout history and how to protect them today. Scouts leave with practical ideas for making a positive environmental impact in their own communities.
