Lantern Tours: The Haunted History of the Railroad
When the sun goes down, the National Railroad Museum tells a different kind of story. Join us for Lantern Tours, a haunted history experience exploring the darker chapters behind four of our historic train cars — guided by lantern light after hours.

What to Expect
Step aboard the Dwight D. Eisenhower car, a Milwaukee Road caboose, the Joseph Lister hospital car, and a 40&8 boxcar as your guide shares the true stories tied to each — stories of loss, hardship, and the history rail travel doesn’t always put on display.
Please note: This tour is recommended for guests ages 16 and up. Content includes depictions and descriptions of death, accidents, child death, and suicide.

- Standard Ticket — $16
- Includes the Lantern Tour only.
- Premium Ticket – $25
- Includes the Lantern Tour and a National Railroad Museum–branded lantern to take home.
- Museum members will save $2 per ticket with their membership code.
